Now that you have more of an idea about what you want to buy. Let’s talk about how much you should take, how long will it take before you will feel the effects, how long will it last, and how much you can possess.
Illinois allows a person to possess a limited amount of marijuana at one time. These amounts are a cumulative combination of marijuana flower, marijuana-infused products, and concentrates up to the limit for each category of product.
Illinois residents
30 grams of flower | 5 grams of concentrates | 500 milligrams of marijuana-infused products (like edibles)
Non-Illinois residents
15 grams of flower | 2.5 grams of concentrates | 250 milligrams of marijuana-infused products (like edibles)
Start low & go slow. Everybody’s different. Each person responds to marijuana differently. Factors like body weight, metabolism, experience, and tolerance can impact how quickly and how long you feel the effects of marijuana.
Smoke & Vape
Take 1 small puff (or hit) and allow 15 minutes for effects to appear.
Effects are immediately felt and can last a few hours.
Eat & Drink
Beginner dose: 1-2.5 mg | Intermediate dose: 5-10 mg
Effects are felt in 1-2 hours and can last several hours.
Drops & Tinctures
Take 1-2 drops under your tongue and allow 30-60 minutes for effects to appear.
Effects occur quickly and can last several hours.
Lotions & Balms
Start with a small amount and wait 15 minutes to see how you feel.
Effects can last 1-2 hours.
