Cannabis Flower & Vapes

There are two types of inhalation methods: smoking and vaporization (vaping). With inhalation, medical cannabis is taken into the lungs and quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. When vaping, the temperature of your pen needs to be high enough to extract the cannabinoids but not so high that it causes the release of potentially harmful toxins that occur during smoking. Vaping is claimed to have fewer health risks compared to smoking.

How Much Should I Take?

Inhale lightly and start with 1 to 3 puffs. When you inhale medical cannabis, the effects are felt quite quickly and can vary depending on the potency levels of the cannabinoids present in the product. You should wait 10 to 15 minutes to make sure you have experienced the full effect before inhaling more. This is especially true if it is your first time using medical cannabis.

Vape Cartridge Tips:

  • Prime your vape battery for an ideal temperature. This helps when vape oil has a thicker viscosity.

  • Store your vape cartridges/pens standing upright between uses.

  • Take slow, steady draws for the most effective outcome.

Is my vape cartridge full?

A vape cartridge or pod may look under-filled because of an air bubble above the oil in the chamber. The air bubble, or “headspace,” provides room for the heated oil to expand without creating air pressure within the chamber. A small amount of oil is also absorbed by the atomizer, priming your vape for immediate use.

Cannabis Tinctures

Tinctures (liquids) or oils are concentrated forms of cannabis that are taken under the tongue (sublingually). Effects from this method are felt quickly because of absorption into the bloodstream.

Dropper

Start with a dose of .25ml under the tongue, then wait at least 1 hour to see how you feel. If you need to increase the amount, do so in small amounts.

Spray

Spray under the tongue and hold for 1 minute before swallowing. The starting amount should be 1 to 2 sprays.

Each person responds differently to cannabis, so be sure to talk with your Verilife budtender about what amount might be right for you.

How Much Should I Take?

In sublingual methods, cannabis is delivered under the tongue through the mucosal membrane linings. The sublingual route has relatively rapid absorption while entering the bloodstream. Take 1-2 drops and allow 30-60 minutes for effects to appear.

The potency of the product should also be taken into account when determining the right amount for your needs. Products with a higher percentage of THC should be used in smaller amounts.

Cannabis Edibles

An ingestible cannabis product is one that can be consumed via eating, drinking, or swallowing.

Foods

Cannabis-infused foods, when eaten, can enter the bloodstream after going through the digestive system. Edibles can produce a stronger and longer-lasting effect compared to inhalation methods.

Elixirs

Cannabis-infused elixirs are absorbed through the stomach as well as the small intestines. They have a quicker onset than food.

Capsules

Cannabis in pill form allows cannabis to enter the bloodstream through the digestive system. This method can produce a stronger and longer-lasting effect compared to inhalation.

How Much Should I Take?

Use small amounts to start–5mg is a good place to begin. Once you take the first amount, wait 1.5 to 2 hours to see how you feel. The effects of ingesting cannabis can last many hours. The potency of the product should also be taken into account when determining a proper amount. Products with a higher percentage of THC should be used in smaller amounts.

Cannabis Topicals

Topicals are cannabis-infused lotions and balms that are absorbed through the skin.

Lotions & Balms

Cannabis-infused ointments, lotions, and creams are forms that are not absorbed into the bloodstream and do not have any psychoactive effects.

Transdermal Patches

Many medicines are delivered through the skin, like pain medications or nicotine replacement therapy.

How Much Should I Take?

Take a small quarter-sized amount of topical cannabis and rub it directly onto skin as needed. Topical cannabis works quickly. Wait 15 minutes after applying it to determine if you need to apply more.
