How to Get an Ohio Medical Marijuana Card
Step-by-Step Guide to Join the Ohio Medical Marijuana Registry
If you’re interested in obtaining a medical marijuana card in Ohio, Verilife is here to guide you through the process. Every medical-use state has its own program and set of regulations, so make sure to follow our Ohio-specific guide below.
Ohio Medical Marijuana Qualifications
Before you begin the medical cannabis application process in Ohio, make sure you meet the following requirements:
At least 18 years old OR a minor with an adult caregiver
Visit a physician who is approved by Ohio’s Medical Marijuana Control Program and obtain certification that you suffer from one of the serious medical conditions that qualify for medical cannabis use. The physician will create your profile in the program’s Patient & Caregiver Registry and submit your proof of residency.
If you do not have a valid ID issued by the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles with your current Ohio address, you must submit three of the forms of additional identification.
Once you have been approved for the program, you will receive an activation email with a link to your online portal within the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program website. This link will remain active for 90 days after receipt, and it can only be accessed once. After clicking the link, you will be prompted to create your registry password.
After you are able to access your online patient portal, you will need to review the following information to ensure accuracy:
Full name
Date of birth
Residential address
Valid and correct phone number
This information will be accessed and reviewed during each dispensary visit, so it’s important that it is correct.
Step 3: Submit Your Ohio Medical Marijuana Registration Fee
To activate your medical cannabis card, you will need to submit the $50 registration fee. This can be done through your patient portal.
Step 4: Get Your Ohio Medical Card
The Ohio Board of Pharmacy no longer issues physical medical cannabis cards. Once you pay your registration fee, you will be able to print your card and begin visiting dispensaries.
Step 5: Your First Ohio Dispensary Visit
As soon as you have your official medical cannabis card, you can visit any state-licensed dispensary in Ohio.
