Ohio Medical Marijuana for Veterans

The freedom to feel better.

The challenges of life after military service can be difficult to navigate, and we're here to help. From the potential to alleviate the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, (PTSD), to providing an alternative to opioids for chronic pain, medical marijuana holds numerous possibilities to help the many men and women who have served this country.

Veterans can obtain a medical marijuana certification in the same way as other patients. Veterans need to confirm through the office of Veteran Affairs that they are permitted to use medical marijuana as part of their certified provider recommendation without consequence to their current position or health care system.

Veterans seeking to qualify for a reduced registration fee due to their veteran status should not submit payment for their registration fee until their status, or the status of the patient they are associated with, is approved by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.

The registration fee may be reduced once the Board receives necessary documentation and approves the special status. The Ohio State Board of Pharmacy will not issue any refunds for registration fees paid before special status approval.

For more information refer to the State of Ohio quick reference guide on registering with veteran status.
